Nadi, Fiji

January 12
Our first full day in Fiji begins with a lovely breakfast served on the covered patio with the sounds of birds singing in the background and the light rustle of the palm trees.  The local people all seem so happy and their smiles are infectious.  We have a hearty breakfast and return to our room for a Spanish lesson.  Afterward, we decide to go to the beach.  It is a short walk down the road, although quite hot and sweaty in the mid-morning heat.  We are refreshed by the warm waters and notice there are quite a lot of other children on the beach as well.

Wailoaloa Beach Visit

First Day in Fij
It turns out that their holidays are still going strong and the children will only return to school in a couple of weeks.  We bask in the sun and float in the warm waters for about an hour, then return to our hotel for a dip in the pool.  Wonderfully refreshing!  By now, it is time for lunch and since there is nowhere in sight, we opt to eat at the hotel restaurant.  We enjoy some lovely Indian curries and Chicken Fried Rice.  After lunch, we lounge around and enjoy the use of the Wifi on the patio to catch up on emails and the blog.  It has been  a while since the kids have been able to Skype and I know they are getting a little homesick.  There is a pool table that the kids can play with along with the pool and a playground.  Hudson and Sam meet a couple of boys and end up spending the rest of the day either in the pool, playing pool or running around crazy around the grounds.  We hit the bed early since there are no real evening distractions and spend a restful night.
